Online Advertising is the fastest growing medium online and the biggest contender for TV advertising. When it comes to TV, most advertisers are confident that online video can match its reach and engagement level—47% feel online video can outdo TV in generating awareness for the same level of investment, and 24% said it could at least match TV.
The same survey found that 58% of respondents believe that for the same investment they can achieve better share of engagement with online video than with TV. Another 15% said online video would drive the same amount of engagement.
Online video ads reached 51.6% of the online population. AOL continued to lead in the number of ads served (3.2 billion), narrowly ahead of Google Sites (3 billion). And while Google had the largest content video audience (152.8 million), the number of videos viewed on Facebook continued to climb, reaching 6.8 billion in February (2014).
